I had cervical spine surgery three weeks ago, after two months of debilitating pain. I had a herniated disc in my neck that was pushing on my nerves and spinal cord, so they did a discectomy and fusion. In non-medical lingo, that means they took out the damaged disc and put a bone encased in a cage in it's place. They then screwed that into the vertebrae above and below, so that they will fuse together. I felt pretty horrible for the first couple of weeks post-op, but am starting to finally feel myself again.
This is me in the hospital, shortly after surgery.
